Premiere: Matrefakt & Lewy – Summer Breeze [Attitudes To Life]

Matrefakt & Lewy come together to cook up some seriously meaty and full flavour house weapons for Attitudes To Life Records.
Attitudes To Life Records founders and Shade Not Fade, FourThirtyTwo and Unsound Mind artists Matrefakt first met Lewy at a gig in Liverpool in 2019. They all hail from the North West, so soon backed up a promise to get in the studio together, and magic has happened ever since. The fruits of those sessions are ready to go, starting with this first EP, which showcases their high-impact house sound in all its glory. Sarah Story has already been hammering the title track on Radio 1, with Yousef, Anja Schneider and Elisa Bee also supporting it.
Opener ‘Summer Breeze’ is a rollicking house cut with its chest puffed out. The muscular drums and bass bring subtle funk while rolling snares, neat melodic patterns and edgy stabs add the all-important detail. After that functional but stylish opener comes the more expressive ‘M58’ (the title of which is a nod to the motorway that connects Lewy’s Wigan with Matrefakt’s Liverpool). It’s turbo-changed house once more, but this time with flashes of diva vocals and a sprinkling of synths that bring a more party-starting vibe. This trio of top cuts completes with ‘Midnight Marmalade’ – the robust drums and the oversized bassline is cut up with raw synth licks and slapping hits that bring peak time energy to the dance floor.
