Premiere: Ben Balance – Sneakbass [Frame Music]

Frame Music returns for their sixth release, enlisting the work of berlin beatsmith Ben Balance for a killer three-track EP – accompanied by rising UK talent Kepler on remix duties.

Ben Balance, the owner of Yaji, Sukhumvit Records and NCSS, is based in Mannheim and part of the Be9 collective. Following releases on Moss Co., Rendr Records, Dreams On Wax & Libe Vibe, Ben makes his Frame Music debut with three dancefloor-ready cuts – one of which is remixed by the increasingly popular Kepler.

‘Sneakbass’ kicks off the release with rough rhythms and gritty energy. Driving drums and rattling percs offer a weighty foundation on which a cascading bassline, soft synths and a catchy vocal all sit firmly. ‘Basshroom’ comes next with jackin’ beats and a bright aura. Swinging drum work and rhythmic sub-bass carve out an uptempo and feel-good groove, supplemented by dreamy synths, quirky sampling and hooky vox shots.

Kepler follows with his remix of ‘Basshroom”, building on the already vastly appealing aspects of the original cut. An exquisite organ meets gentle pads and synth shots, providing a charming contrast to the track’s firm underbelly. ‘Drums Are Homies’ closes the release and provides more punch & potency. Shuddering hat grooves and thumping kick sequences match up with another captivating bassline, whilst quirky sampling and subtle melodics drift in and out of its blistering body.
