Premiere: Cessy – Small Fortune [No Art]

Cessy returns to No Art as the Australian delivers his ‘Small Fortune’ EP, backed by a remix from iO (Mulen).
A regular for the likes of S.A.S.H. in Sydney, emerging talent Cessy continues to build his profile in Australia and beyond, dropping material via Key Records and Archie Hamilton’s Moss Co. Having debuted on No Art back in 2020 with his ‘Take A Ride’ EP, he returns to open the label’s 2022 schedule with three fresh originals across his ‘Small Fortune’ EP – accompanied by leading Ukrainian iO (Mulen) on remix duties.
A favourite of label bosses ANOTR over recent months, title cut ‘Small Fortune’ welcomes a bustling terrace anthem as snaking, swinging percussion and subtle melodies guide spacey synths and hazy vocals, while ‘Cold Sweat’ snakes down a spiralling path of rumbling basslines, bright stabs and swirling leads. Next, ‘Salinas’ strips things back as sparse pads and refined drums go to work to provide a hazy cut for the afters, before iO (Mulen)’s take on ‘Small Fortune’ welcomes a typically slick production as he builds on the infectious percussion arrangements with funky bass licks and zipping melodies to shape up the package.
