PREMIERE: Mene – Somewhere In The Middle [Pakate Records]

An icy wind blows from the Balkans as two cold & talented artists join forces for their Pakate debut. With an impressive combined streak of releases on labels like Desolat, Hottrax, Take Notes, and Tamango, to name a few, Serbian powerhouses Mene and Misha sat in the studio for “Ground Shaker” EP, and the result perfectly fits with the title meaning. On the lead track, the pairs provide a hefty, rumbling track that punishes the listener with its vibrant energy, pushing percussion to the forefront alongside playful, scattering vocals and booming bass tones, whilst “Check My Flow” brings deeper rhythms, minimal grooves, and sinister plucks synths. Closing the EP in style, Mene’s solo “Somewhere In Between” dives underneath, winding through esoteric-ish chants, pulsating yet mental rhythms, and wailing atmospheres.
