Premiere: Kellie Allen – Tape Baby [Boogeyman]

The ever more crucial Boogeyman label serves up a sublime 11th EP here, this time with Kellie Allen at the controls.

Allen is London-born but based in Ibiza and is known for her impeccable productions and dynamic performances. She has played at prominent places around the world including PIV, DC10, Solid Grooves, Fabric London and Amnesia while dropping her cultured tunes on MicroHertz, PIV, Deeperfect and more.

This one opens up with the kicking house sounds of ‘What You Gon’ Do’, a deep and slinky house cut with hints of New Jersey legend Kerri Chandler and a gorgeous soulful vocal that lights up the whole track. The pace is picked up for Tape Baby, a spaced-out tech cut with infectious hi hats and fleshy bass that is warm and driving. Superb synths swirl round the mix and make it a real standout with deft cosmic melodies.

With this EP, Kellie Allen shows once more why she is one of the hottest talents in the underground right now.
