Premiere: Kendra (Feat Denso) – Break My Filter [Maai Records]

Lis Sarroca curates another outstanding release on her Maai Records label, this time calling on five female producers for an energetic, club orientated EP, maneuvering between low end leaned breakbeat, and classy house cuts. Serving up the heat we have Kendra, Aldonna, Glo My, MLF and Monile.

Diving in at the deep end is the chunky and in your face “Break My Filter” by Kendra, paying homage to the dusty breaks sounds of the 90s, huge drum work and a chugging sub heavy bass, screaming for the peak time moments. Next up is Australian rising star Aldonna, crammed with raw emotion and rugged emotion. “Lotus” is a track for the moments built upon an elasticated groove combined with dreamy otherworldly synths transcending the listener. Glo My brings forward an eccentric house cut, cruising on a deeper emotion than its predecessor, she presents to you “Sang Woo”. MLF’s “Oh My Break” is another enormous breakbeat trip, constantly simmering, evolving into pure dance floor frenzy as the tension builds gently from the start, spaced out beeps and bleeps whirring positively around the heart of the track. Last but not least is Monile’s “Play”, a track that remains slightly more grounded using nostalgic drums, and a warm and infectious bass line, ready to make you move, becoming increasingly animated as the track develops.

Maai Records is a tightly run ship by Barcelona based Lis Sarroca, and her impeccable taste shines strong with this versatile selection of tracks on the label crafted by a flourishing group of artists.
