Premiere: zAr zAr – Cataclysm [Quite Nice Actually]
Quite Nice Actually hits their third release and keeps up the fine form with a new four track EP from label boss zAr zAr.
zAr zAr is a London born artist who has a rough and ready style with a love of acid, breaks and minimal beats. His raw emotive sounds always hit the spot and this 4 track EP further proves this.
Mr Lover Lover is a slick house track with electronic funk deep in its bones. The silky pad and driving beats get you on your toes then Highs & Lows ups the pace with more future house funk. The kicks are punchy and rubbery, the synths sci-fi and the mood bright. Cataclysm hits harder, with a darker underbelly and powerful bass that sends you off into space on a wave of lush synth sound. Rivers is a feel good closer with balmy pads and liquid chords, knotted bass and more well designed drums as well as a nice emotive vocal stab.
