Premiere: Luca Donzelli – Kenny’s Ride [Heavy House Society]
Heavy House Society brings its 10th release and this Autumn, the label continues drops another essential EP, which comes from Italy’s Luca Donzelli. Fresh from his recent outings on esteemed labels like, Archie Hamliton’s Moscow imprint, Josh Butler’s Origins Rcrds, Moan, Avotre, Roush, Elrow and also WOW! Recordings.
Kenny’s Ride EP is a sharp 3 tracker of deep minimal grooving tech. First out of the bag is the title track from the EP, Kenny’s Ride. This is funky sub driven groove with intricate minimal incidentals and minute chord stabs accompanying vocal cuts which are treated with some gentle formant effects. This is peak time minimal deep.
Second up is Azure, which again features plenty of bounce to its groove but with a deeper feel from the title track. Shuffling hi’s, searing chords and well chosen vocal cuts make this track a very classy affair.
For the third and last track on the package we have 2.64. This starts off with a long intro, making this an ideal set start for some, and drops in with a chunky kick to give it that hand in the air feel. Added to that is a cleverly worked minimal lead line which gives the track its groove and some glistening shuffling hi’s, this is a guaranteed party starter.
Yet again Sidney Charles’s Heavy House Society delivers another essential EP, making the labels profile now one of the must release on labels in the scene.
